The cooling of the submersible pump inside the water tank - how to make a cooling jacket
 

 

 

Close-coupled submersible pumps are used for pumping water from artesian wells and for pumping water from tanks. The motor self-cooling system guarantees a long service life to the pump. The pumped water that comes in contact with the motor cools it perfectly (see fig.A).

Submersible pump with separate pump and motor are mainly designed for pumping water from deep wells. In order to install this type of sub pump inside collection tank, it is necessary to improve the cooling of the electric motor: so, we recommend you to use the cooling shroud. This shroud is mounted on the submersible pump, creating a forced water channel around the electric motor.

In this case, with a simple PVC pipe the obligatory water conduct around the electric motor can be realized. As said, the result will be a longer life and a lower electric consumption of the submersible pump (see fig.B).

Starting from the pump and a piece of PVC pipe (fig.1) it is possible to realize the cooling system of your pump (fig.2)





Cut a piece of plastic pipe and make slots on one end (fig.3) Then, insert the tube into the pump bringing it higher than the suction, so you can fix it without blocking it (fig.4)

 




Fix the plastic pipe with clamps in the upper part of the pump (fig.5). Now the submersible pump is ready for use (fig.6)

N.B. The important thing is that part of the flow is conveyed into the air space in order to cool the motor shell.
