Variable-frequency drives (VFD) are also known as AC drives, adjustable-frequency drives (AFD), variable-speed drives (VSD) or inverter drives.

There are three types of inverter drives for electric pumps:

1)Single-phase/single-phase VFD (M/M inverter drives):

Pratical example: ACTIVE.DRIVER.MM.1,1 
The VFD is powered by a single-phase 230Vac power supply - The electric pump is also  powered by a single-phase 230Vac power supply.


2)Single-phase/three-phase VFD (M/T inverter drives):

Pratical example: ACTIVE.DRIVER.MT.1,0 
The VFD is powered by a single-phase 230Vac power supply - The electric pump is powered by a three-phase 230Vac power supply.
Warning! we said 230Vac three-phase so that all electric motors that are normally powered by three-phase 400Vac can be adapted for this power supply, while the submersible pumps must specifically request to be powered by 230Vac three-phase.


3)Three-phase/three-phase (T/T inverter drives):

Pratical example: ACTIVE.DRIVER.TT.3,0 
The VFD is powered by a three-phase 400Vac power supply - The electric pump is powered by a three-phase 400Vac power supply.
